Rutledge Realtors Score High in the Annual WEF Spelling Bee

tech It was another great event for WEF on the 25th anniversary of the Annual Spelling Bee. Wellesley realtors safely got out of the gate being (ok, spelling) erudite. We felt we were off to a scholarly start. The Rutledge Team broke away with the lead after 5 or 6 rounds feeling good and having consensus on all spelling thus far. In the end, we left it on the table to Wellesley College. If you have to go down, it’s nice to give way to an elite school. We topped all other realtors and felt efficacious in doing so. <h1 style="text-align: center;">Congratulations to our fine spelling team!</h1> <p style="text-align: center;"><img alt="" src="https://s3.amazonaws.com/files.usmre.com/5101/blog/2014%20spelling%20bee%20cx.jpg" style="width: 560px; height: 233px;"/></p>

Our Rutledge Super Spellers rocked at the WEF Spelling Bee

With a bit of last minute cramming, brokers Prue Hay and Chrissie Lawrence, and marketing assistant Susan Bailey performed well at the 21st annual Wellesley Education Foundation Spelling Bee at the Sprague School gym on Thursday, Nov. 4. While our intrepid team did not make it to the final round, they  fought valiantly, beating out several worthy opponents in their round and only losing to the Harvard Vanguard team. Spelling such words as "myastenia", "vaudevillian" and "xerosis" correctly, the team finally fell on the word "glissade."

Mike Dowling, longtime sportcaster for WCVB-TV, Wellesley resident and supporter of the WEF Bee,  moderated the event again this year.

The WEF provides wonderful support to the Wellesley schools, and many student organizations, colleges in town and local businesses participated. All fees and monies raised from the event go towards grants for enrichment programs in the schools. Rutledge Properties is pleased and proud to offer our support.

Couldn't make it last night to cheer our team on? Here's some pictures from the WEF Spelling Bee.

Rutledge brokers spelling team competed in the WEF Spelling Bee to benefit Wellesley Schools

The Wellesley Education Foundation (WEF) held its 20th annual Spelling Bee Nov. 5. 49 teams from every facet of life in Wellesley were there: real estate offices, law firms, banks, PTAs, student organizations, and townspeople banded together as alumni and neighborhood groups. Rutledge Properties has been an enthusiastic entry every year, never actually winning but doing our very best for our schools. The Rutledge team consisted of (from left to right), Chrissie Lawrence, Janet Montgomery and owner Roberta Swenson.

This year's winner was from World of Wellesley (celebrating diversity in our town), strongly challenged by the high school students in Wellesley Pops. The winners received the Ruth Humphries Bee Trophy to keep for the reigning year (named after our own Ruth Humphries, who was one of the original owners of Rutledge Properties, and a broker with us for many years). Congratulations to everyone who participated!
