Resurgence of the Northside
Traditionally the Southside has been the more popular of the two areas. So why is the Northside now experiencing a resurgence?
As an experienced Realtor and longtime resident, my sense is that the Northside is experiencing a second golden age due to its VALUE.
Simply put, you appear to be getting more value for the money in terms of gross living area, character, land and amenities. Here are some examples:
For $1,000,000 you can get:
- Northside A renovated Royal Barry Wills Colonial with all the bells and whistles
- Southside A multi-level, ranch, or split level.
For $1,450,000 you can get:
- A 1940s colonial with all the amenities, plus a substantial addition including a new kitchen, family room, master bedroom suite
- Southside A 1960s colonial with less space and fewer amenities.
School System Due to a centralized school system rated the best among the state, Weston is a top location regardless of the Northside vs. the Southside debate.
That being said, the Northside is quieter. While the Southside experiences a lot of highway noise from the nearby Mass Pike and Route 128, the Northside is spared that noise while still being quite conveniently located to these major routes.
Favorable commute Lastly, as we see Route 128 experience a resurgence of thriving technological businesses, we are finding that the Northside offers a favorable commute.
